We are a Canadian investment club, that invests in securities on the Toronto, New York, and NASDAQ stock exchanges.
The Intrinsic Investment Group searches for value from a bottom-up approach. Our principal focus is to evaluate the economics of individual companies to determine if value is present. Our approach is somewhat contrarian, since we invest in undervalued companies that may be out of favour due to some short-term negative event, or when they are overlooked by other investors.
Throughout our analysis, we are guided by five key principles of Value Investing:
Focus on the value of an individual business, not on macro economic factors;
Think like business people and buy quality businesses;
Look for long-term growth, not short-term fads;
Always invest for the long-term;
Make rational decisions based on fact, not intuition.
Our long-term goal is to generate returns well in excess of the North American market indices.
